Today (March 8th) is International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women. International Women's Day has been celebrated since the early 1900s.
The history of the female accountant in Australia (found on the CPA Australia website) notes that Western Australia was the first state to allow women to be admitted to members of the Institute of Accountants and Auditors in Western Australia (IAAWA, which would eventually be known as CPA Australia) with Addie Hamilton being admitted as its' first female member in October 1915.
I am proud to work with such an amazing group of women at CE Smith & Co and from reading the GE Jones & Co archives (where CE Smith & Co had its' beginnings) it is evident that women have played an enormous role in the success of our firm.
Happy International Women's Day 2019.
